How to change your #ReactNative #Android app name?

To change your app name for Android, you have to edit your app name in 3 files: strings.xml, package.json and app.json.

1)
strings.xml which is located at android/app/src/main/res/value/strings.xml
<resources>
    <string name=“app_name”>Green Tea</string>
</resources>

This android:label is a readable label for the MainActivity component and app_name comes a definition in strings.xml
<activity
    android:name=".MainActivity"
    android:label="@string/app_name"
    android:configChanges="keyboard|keyboardHidden|orientation|screenSize"
    android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustResize">
    <intent-filter>
        <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
        <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
    </intent-filter>
</activity>

Android strings.xml

 2) app.json which is a configuration file for the native app. It is located in the project root folder.
Taken from the document:

* - `name` - The short name used for the project, should be TitleCase
* - `displayName` - The app's name on the home screen

app.json
app.json

3) package.json which is the configuration file for the project. I believe this name here won't affect the name on the Android app.

Let me know if this is not working. Thank you for reading!
